Meet My Lovey

Before I was born, one of Mommy’s colleagues (Dr. Geannie Bennett) gave me a Barefoot Dreams patchwork blanket.  Not thinking too much about it, Mommy has always kept it in my crib and it ended up becoming one of my favorite blankets…and dare I say, my lovey.

According to the pediatricians, it is normal for babies/toddlers to develop an attachment to a lovey some time between 12-18 months and the attachment peaks at 18-24 months.  Usually, this lasts 1-2 years.  Supposedly, the lovey gives the child a sense of security when parents are absent or when the child is in a new environment.

Here’s my 18-month old lovey after many, many washes:

Here’s the new identical lovey Mommy recently bought for me as back-up in case something happens to the original one:

At $65 each, it is quite expensive for a blanket, but probably worth every penny for the comfort it brings me.
