王建民 and Me…

So, here is Mommy & Daddy’s second celebrity sighting…(the first was Sting, way before I was born).

I’m not as big of a 王建民 (Taiwanese starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals) fan as Daddy or GongGong, but I couldn’t help but get a little giddy at the sight of him at Jumbo Jumbo restaurant in Rockville, MD on 9/4/2011.  He just finished a game at Nationals Park and decided to go to dinner with his wife, son and another family of three.  The restaurant barely had anyone there until he showed up.  It seemed like the few souls who were there started Tweeting or Facebooking because within minutes, the whole restaurant was packed.  In fact, we were literally kicked out by the manager.  We told her we were ordering shaved ice and she promptly told us they had run out of shaved ice.  I doubt they would given the same answer if 王建民 asked for shaved ice.

Incidentally, I did go to my first baseball game a few weeks ago thanks to Daddy who got us great tickets for us to sit in a suite overlooking home plate.

Here I am, posing with the giant presidents they had running around the Park before the game.

In case you were wondering, here is what the inside of the suite looks like.  Too bad no food or drink was included.

Here  I am checking out the outside embroidered suite seats.

Once I got tired exploring, I rested my feet on the granite ledge with my trusty blanket.

I was all ready for the game with my Nationals cap.

All of us at the Park rooting for our Taiwanese pitcher!

Too bad GongGong and PoPo were at a friend’s farm this weekend when we saw 王建民.  I think GongGong would have acted like a bigger groupie than Daddy!

Chicago Trip Part 2: Hanging with the Cousins!

img_3014

So after arriving in Chicago on a fun, short flight, I met my cousins for the first time.  It was cool to hang out with them, especially because they have a big train set with a train table.  Thank goodness for the train table because it kept me occupied for many hours while Mommy & Daddy had other plans…

Many months before the Chicago Trip, Mommy made reservations for a very special dinner at Alinea for GongGong, PoPo, Uncle Chian, Aunt Annie and Daddy In case you don’t know about Alinea, it is a 3-star Michelin-rated restaurant and the #1 restaurant in the United States.  Alinea’s chef, Grant Achatz, won the James Beard Award for best chef in 2008.  Since this is a blog about me and not about the food I didn’t get to eat, Mommy will just keep it short and say that it was hand-down, the best meal GongGong, PoPo, Daddy and Mommy have ever eaten…and GongGong & PoPo have eaten some pretty fancy stuff in their life.

Okay…now that Mommy done making me talk about Alinea, here is what I did with my cousins:

We went to the beautiful campus of Northwestern University and gave each other a tri-fist bump!

That is also where I figured out what a great exercise gym Mommy’s body is…

[singlepic id=1150 w=320 h=240 float=none]

We also went to The Field Museum where there were many things for kids to do.

Visiting the “Horses” exhibit:

Showing off the donkey ears I made at the museum:

See you all next time!
