9-Month Check Up

Well, there’s been so much anticipation for this doctor’s appointment because Mommy and Daddy wanted to make sure that I stayed on the curve for the growth.  Let’s just say that my head circumference was the only thing that stayed on the curve.

Weight:  20 pounds 14 ounces (55th percentile)

Height:  28.5 inches (58th percentile)

Head Cirumference:  18.5 inches (>95th percentile)  Hopefully, this is mostly brains and not fluid!

Mommy changed my doctor from Dr. Reddy to Dr. Lu because she discovered through Aunt Julie that Dr. Lu and Mommy have a mutual friend.  Dr. Lu has a different demeanor than Dr. Reddy, not necessary better, but just different.  Dr. Lu also has two children of his own, so that comes with additional knowledge that only parents have.  Mommy & Daddy both seemed to thoroughly enjoyed their visit with Dr. Lu, but Dr. Lu did predict my final height to be only 5 feet 6 inches (which is based on the average of Mommy and Daddy’s height, plus 2 inches).  Mommy & Daddy were hoping that I’d be taller, like 5 feet 10 or so, but I guess we really have no control over certain cards (or genes) that we are dealt.  Who knows?  Maybe I’ll surprise everyone and be that tall Asian boy whom everyone will wonder if my short parents are actually my biological parents.

After many months of not getting my blood drawn, I had to give a sample today to check for iron-decifient anemia.  Luckily, I’m okay.  Daddy took a video of me getting my blood draw, this time, from my finger instead of antecubital.  I’m still pretty brave when it comes to blood draws.  I never cried when they used to prick my heel or draw antecubital.  Mommy thought I would cry for sure today because I’m developing more neurologically, but I still didn’t cry.  Brave me!

Taking a Bath…With Another Boy!

Mommy & Daddy had dinner with Aunt Julie (super mom of three boys) yesterday and afterwards, everyone came over for a bath.  Matthew (the youngest of Aunt Julie’s three boys)  joined me in my bath tub.  I must admit, when Mommy first put me in the tub, I was shocked to see another boy in the tub with me.  Then, I kinda got used to the idea.  We had a good time parallel playing with my turtle toys.

Matthew is such a sweet boy and Mommy has developed a soft spot for him.  After I fell asleep, Mommy gave Aunt Julie some of her extra breast milk to feed Matthew because we didn’t have any whole milk in the house.  (Matthew just turned one and is drinking whole milk now).  It’s the first time Mommy has fed another child with her breast milk since she was turned down by the breast milk bank several months ago.  It’s a good feeling to be able to share breast milk!
