Mommy’s C-Section

Mommy finally had enough guts to watch the video Daddy took of my delivery.  (Mommy should let the readers know that it is not normal to be allowed to videotape a c-section delivery.  Normally, ob/gyns would never allow it, but because the surgeons were Mommy’s friends and colleagues, they did not mind.)  The video was only about 10 minutes long from skin incision to my delivery.  Daddy was too enthralled with me when I was in the incubator that he took videos of me instead of Mommy’s doctors closing her uterus and her abdomen.

It took almost  5 months for Mommy to get over the “post-trauma” and be objective enough to watch this video today.  Mommy shed some tears again when she heard me cry for the first time in the video.  Certain moments never seem to lose their emotional appeal.

It’s strange for Mommy to see herself getting the same surgery she has done thousands of times.  She knew exactly what should happen and knew exactly what would be wrong (if something went wrong).  I was delivered in frank breech position.  For those of you who don’t know what this means, it means my legs were in piked position:

My butt was delivered first, followed by my body all the way up to my arms.  Then each of my arms were delivered followed by my head in flexed position.  Mommy was able to see all these maneuvers in the video which gave an interesting perspective.

Someday, maybe when I am older, Mommy will let me watch the video.
