For those who diligently follow my blog, sorry for the 1-2 week hiatus while we took a vacation to see PoPo and GongGong in Paris for Thanksgiving. It is our last opportunity to go visit them there since GongGong will be retiring at the end of the year.
We took a direct flight from IAD to CDG airport in France, but we were stuck at IAD for 5 hours due to “mechanical problems.” Luckily, we had access to the lounge where Mommy and Daddy pigged out on veggie sticks, cheese and crackers. Mommy never thought veggie sticks could taste this good. Meanwhile, I pigged out on breast milk, but at least it was warmed by the hot water available at the lounge. During the wait, Mommy and Daddy made me a makeshift crib with hopes of getting me to sleep a little. I must say, nothing is like my own bed at home. Mommy and Daddy are slightly worried that I may be one of these kids who can only sleep well in their own bed.

My first plane ride was not only awesome for me, but also for Mommy and Daddy. Since the timing of the flight was during my sleep time, I slept most of the way there. Mommy reserved a bassinet for me. It’s designed to be attached to holes in the bulk head wall in front of Mommy and Daddy’s seats, but it was SO narrow.

I couldn’t really have my arms outstretched. Mommy tried to put me in it for a few minutes, but after I fussed, they tried plan B…
…which as you can see, worked much better. Stewardesses who saw me in this position nicknamed me “the Chinese Emperor.”

Mommy pumped her milk on the airplane using her BeBe au Lait and while her surrounding neighbors were asleep. It proved to be comfortable for all involved and thank goodness she didn’t have to pump in the yucky bathrooms. However, I had to visit the yucky bathrooms when Mommy and Daddy had to change me. They have these platforms that you can release above the toilets and it’s perfect for changing diapers. See how happy I was looking all around, not knowing that the toilet that leads to the abyss lies just below me:

After we landed in France 7 hours later, Mommy put me in her Baby Bjorn and walk to immigration, customs and baggage claim.

For those of you going to CDG anytime soon, keep in mind that there is NO customs. We merely picked up our bags and walked out the door. It’s a world of difference from flying into IAD where you are asked to fill out customs forms and are asked questions at customs. Basically, you can bring anything in to CDG and it wouldn’t be a problem. 🙂
PoPo picked us up from the airport and she had waited there for us for 5 additional hours, not knowing that our plane had been delayed. She said the traffice to go back home and come back would have made the commute about the same, so she opted to stay at the airport. Poor PoPo!
