Circus Woes

So I went to my first circus today and it will be my last. I didn’t like it and was begging to leave before intermission. I the best part was the $5 soft serve ice cream cone Daddy bought for me. After that, it went all downhill.

Mommy never liked to be a patron of circuses, but thought I would enjoy it. And given Mommy got half price tickets at $15 each, we all decided to go. Now there is no question that we will not be partaking in any more circus ventures. A quick YouTube search on the abuse of circus animals will serve as a “gentle” reminder.

A message to all those responsible for the animal abuse — karma is a bitch!

School Art Projects

Country Day puts together the most interesting assortment of fun projects. Mommy put together a compilation of more creative projects so far.

For Thanksgiving, we sprinkled spices on a paper turkey. It was so cool because it not only engaged our senses of sight and touch, but also smell and for some kids, taste.

The school made Silly Putty for us to mold. It was one of my favorites because it was sticky but doesn’t stick to your hands.

For the holidays, the school baked gingerbread cookies and homemade frosting so we could each frost our own cookie. I must admit I wasn’t a fan of the frosting because it was way too sweet.

We also painted using balloons and it also happened to be the day Aunt Ellie visited my school.

To my surprise, we played with shaving cream one day. It was my first time seeing shaving cream because Daddy doesn’t use shaving cream. Boy, it was cool! Then I realized how dirty my hands got, so after about three minutes of playing, I had to clean my hands.

For Valentine’s Day, we painted using a small ball in a cylinder. We had to pick up a ball soaked in a jar of paint and put it in the cylinder. We then moved the cylinder around to paint. Interesting way to use fine motor skills.

The teachers also had us paint with rollers.

There was also this contraption which is a wire mesh box. If you look carefully, you can see that there is a paper shamrock under the box. I am using a toothbrush with some thin paint to brush across the mesh to create a sprinkled rain effect on the shamrock.

The other St. Patrick’s Day project was to dip these styrofoam packing material in water and stack them up. Even Mommy had no idea you can make packing material stick with water.

Painting is not my favorite, but I happened to be interested on this particular day.

Can’t wait to see what else my school has in store for us!
